The first State of Origin in New Zealand

For the first time, the Blues and Maroons are taking Origin across the Tasman: Game II of the 2027 series is at Eden Park on Wednesday 16 June 2027. Eden Park is expecting thousands of supporters from Australia, the Pacific and New Zealand — and central Auckland accommodation will go fast once general tickets are released.

Make a week of it: the Warriors also play at Eden Park on Sunday 13 June 2027, so a Sunday-to-Thursday stay covers both games with a few days to see Auckland in between.

Game night, sorted

Head to Kingsland early — the bars and restaurants on New North Road fill up fast before big games. After the final whistle, the city-bound train platforms are the busiest spot in Auckland; you're heading the other way, back towards Mount Albert, or you can let the crowd clear over a drink in Kingsland first. It's a midweek game in winter, so pack a warm jacket.

State of Origin stay — FAQs

When is State of Origin in Auckland?

Game II of the 2027 State of Origin series is on Wednesday 16 June 2027 at Eden Park — the first Blues v Maroons Origin match ever played in New Zealand. The Warriors also play at Eden Park on Sunday 13 June.

How far is The Fern from Eden Park?

The Fern is in Mount Albert, next door to Kingsland. It's a short Uber or drive, or two stops on the Western Line from Baldwin Ave to Kingsland station, which sits right beside the stadium.

How many people can stay?

Up to four guests, in two queen bedrooms that each have their own ensuite, plus a third bathroom downstairs. Splitting the house between four mates can work out cheaper per person than hotel rooms.

Can we bring kids?

Yes — families are welcome — we provide a cot and a high chair, and we're happy to help with anything else that makes travelling with little ones easier (we're parents too). Please note the stairs are steep and there's no stair gate, so toddlers will need close supervision.

How do we book?

Pick your dates in the booking calendar on this page. Rates are set in NZ dollars and booking direct is typically around 16% cheaper than the same dates on Airbnb or Booking.com.
